Ron Banks Is No More

Hotel di Palembang - Singer Ron Banks, known as the co-founder of the group ‘Dramatics’ passed away yesterday, apparently owing to a cardiac attack. He passed away at the Sinai Hospital of Detroit. His association with the music group dates back to the 1960s, when he was a teenager. When the group was set up in 1962 its name was “Dynamics.” The name was changed in 1967. While the group tasted success for the first time in 1967 it was the 1971 single, “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” that made them famous. Ron Banks became a popular singer over the years and he loved performing in various places of the country for his fans.

Ron Banks died was rather unexpected and his group mates as well as his friends expressed their shock when they were informed of his sudden demise. He has left behind his six children and spouse Sandy Banks. L.J. Reynolds, a group member said that he was stunned by the death of Ron Banks and that his absence will always be felt. The group, however, will perform in New York’s Westbury Music Festival as it was scheduled. The funeral arrangements for Ron Banks are yet to be made.

The “Dramatics” went on to become one of the leaders in R&B and part of its success was owing to the silky smooth voice of Ron Banks. His group mates and other music group members recall that he never became arrogant even after tasting success and stardom. Even when the group went through its low phases, he remained calm and balanced.
